18 February 2007 Falkirk v Hibs - Scottish Cup Match Report

The U13s fired a message to all the teams competing in the cup this year after an amazing performance against Falkirk. The girls showed that they are not going to give up their Scottish Cup crown without a fight.

From the kick off, the girls over came the slightly difficult conditions and quickly settled into their passing game. This has been their trade mark over the last couple of seasons and is devastating at times. Falkirk dug in well but Hibs' slick passing eventually took it's toll and it wasn't suprising when Hibs took the lead through Siobhan Hunter. Siobhan has been a handful up front this season with her tally for the season increasing as she managed four, three came from her weaker left foot.

The link up play between the team is breathtaking at times with many a move starting from Hannah Reid in goals. Once in possession, the team's defenders are comforatable with the ball at their feet and start many an attacking move with their quick thinking and inch perfect passing. The pacy forward players are a handful at the best of times but were simply untouchable today.

By half time the girls were 6-0 up and had put the tie beyond Falkirk, but to their credit, Falkirk battled on in the second half and managed to find the net through sheer determination. Falkirk are a good side but unfortunately for them, they were caught cold by the visitors from the start.

After today's performance, Hibs showed that they are one of the less desirable teams to be drawn against in this competition.
