UNITE THE CLUBS

After attending a meeting at the Prison Officers Club at Longstone in Edinburgh on the 5th November 2006, I was appointed onto the committee of UNITE THE CLUBS FORUM.
The short, medium and long term objectives of the Forum are about to be detailed on the Unite the Clubs website which is being constructed at the moment, details of which are shown on the attached "Unite the Clubs" leaflet.
However, we see our place as being the forum to work together with all Council Departments in order to monitor an improvement program in and around Edinburgh and which has already started to provide basic, safe and decent facilities for our children to enjoy playing all sport including our sport, football.
We are all actively working towards the first major event in the life of the forum which is the UNITE THE CLUBS MARCH on 14th February 2006.
Already we have over 1000 youths, coaches and parent helpers ready to support the march and we've hardly started!!!!
This march will raise the profile of the plight of our youth in Edinburgh and the shameful state of the sports facilities which have been allowed by successive Edinburgh Council's to fall into a state of disrepair over many decades.
Although work has started on a number of projects in and around the city, mainly due to the work of Ian Mackay, who is a member of the forum and has been involved in youth football over many decades himself, there is much more to be done. With the council elections on the horizon, this is our opportunity to come together and really show the City of Edinburgh Council and the whole of Scotland what we think of the state of these facilities. Many are nothing short of an absolute disgrace.
May I request the support of everyone involved at Hibs Girls FC to show their support for this worthy cause and march on the 14th in the colours of our Football Club and to mobilise the support of every family member and friend that you can muster to march as well!!!
Brian Ross
