Hibs - Hutchison Vale
Match Report - 30 Sept 2006
The girls kept up their relentless and ruthless pursuit of retaining their status as league champions with a convincing 11-1 win over Hutchison Vale on a beautiful Saturday morning.
By half-time, the girls were 6-0 up through some excellent strikes from in-form striker Siobhan Hunter and Caroline Weir. Siobhan knotched up 6 goals in the game with 5 of them coming in the first half. Her goals in the first half came from good work through the middle of the pitch before unleashing unstoppable drives. The Hutchison goalkeeper had an excellent game with some breath taking saves but was powerless to stop Siobhan in her current goal scoring streak.
Again, Hibs made a number of changes in the second half with Caitlin Darge, Kirston Irons, Ellen Reid and Anna Green taking to the field. Kirston was making her debut for the team and did well to stop any threats from the Hutchison forwards.
The girls were made to work hard in the second half but eventually broke through with a scrappy goal from Yasemine Emek. Yasemine has changed her role from front player to defender in the last few weeks but continues to make her trade mark runs into the box from set pieces and corners with her goal a just reward for her perseverance. Shortly afterwards, a fantastic headed goal from Ellen extended the lead before further strikes from Caroline, Kirsty Smith and Siobhan wrapped up the win.
Hutchison managed a consolation goal late on with a clever near post shot catching Hannah Reid off guard. Hutchison are a good team with some excellent individuals but they could not come up with an answer to the girls on this occasion.
