Edinburgh City - Hibs
Match Report - 9th Sept 2006

The under 13s continued their impressive start to the season with a comprehensive 12-1 win over Edinburgh City at Carrick Knowe on Saturday morning. Despite missing two key players in Ellen Reid and Siobhan Hunter, the girls made short work of a determined Edinburgh side. The girls did well to adapt to the small pitch and found it difficult to get their passing game going in the opening stages of the game. Once the team had adjusted to the pitch, the goals soon came with the girls 5-0 up at half time through Stacey Hutchison, Yasemine Emek and Kirsty Smith.

In the second half, the girls had the measure of their opponents and were playing some neat passing football despite the lack of space. Understanding control and precise passing was needed for their surroundings, the girls adapted in an impressive manner.

Kirsty Smith added another 2 in the second half with Caroline Weir and Claire Emslie also scoring hat tricks in the second half. Despite having a relatively quite game, Hannah Reid was alert to any danger but was unable to stop Edinburgh from scoring late in the second half. Despite losing one goal, the defence showed great resilience not to concede any more with Anna Green especially impressing with her defensive abilities.

The girls were again able to make a number of changes throughout the game with Caitlin Darge, Emma Watson and Shannen Lamb all making impressive league debuts for this season. All three debutants played well and emphasises the teams strength in numbers. Caitlin and Shannon were both unlucky not to score after producing fine efforts on target.

The girls are producing some excellent football and well worth the effort of getting out of bed on a Saturday morning to watch. This is down to their natural ability and love of the game coupled with the excellent coaching skills of Ronnie Hamilton. The girls are looking forward to their next game against Spartans and were dissapointed that the match will take place a week on Saturday and not sooner.
