Hibs - Murieston
Match Report - 2nd Sept 2006

The under 13's got off to a flyer on Saturday with a 19-1 win against Murieston. Despite the scoreline, it took a while for the girls to break down their opponents and score the first. In the opening phase, both teams created chances but it was Hibs who took the lead through a brave Siobhan Hunter header from Kirsty Smith's corner. Yasemine Emek scored two goals shortly after to put Hibs firmly in the driving seat. Further goals from Stacey Hutchison, Siobhan Hunter, Kirsty Smith and Anna Green gave Hibs a commanding lead at half-time.

In the second half, Hibs continued to press for more goals and it wasn't long before the first half scorers added to their tallies. Caroline Weir and Claire Emslie both opened their accounts for the season with excellent strikes. Top scorer for the day was Siobhan Hunter with 5, closely followed by Kirsty Smith with 4 on her debut for the club. Caroline Weir netted a hatrick with Stacey Hutchison, Anna Green and Yasemin Emek all bagging a brace. Hibs final goal was scored by another debutant Claire Emslie.

Despite the scoreline, Murieston fought bravely and never let their heads go down. Their goal came through a cross after a great passing move down the left-wing. The ball was eventually smashed into the roof of the net from the delivery. Although Hibs scored a number of goals, their goalkeeper made some excellent saves and showed great bravery and spirit on a number of occasions.

It was a ruthless performance from the girls proving they will be a force again this season. Most notable was the number of roles the girls played and the ease at which they managed to perform in positions they were unfamiliar with. Although they didn't score, Hannah Reid, Ellen Reid and Natalie McDermid were all solid in defence.

In conclusion, the treble winning side have the hunger for more success this season and will no doubt have a major say in where honours end up this season.
