Hibernian Ladies share the points with Inverness
Hibernian Ladies looked to bounce back from last week’s defeat by welcoming Inverness to HTC today but they were held by their visitors in a very disappointing 1-1 draw.
The ladies struggled to maintain the effort and performance from their previous games as they lacked conviction in the final third. They kept the ball in short spells but their passing and choices of passes were allowing the visitors to win possession very easily. Although the ladies were not being tested at the back they were causing there own problems straight from the start.
The midfield was very congested with Inverness packing the midfield and playing a loan striker, this was causing problems for the ladies to play their usual passing game and sometimes reverted to the ineffective long ball.
However they were pressing the game and chances came and gone and it wasn’t until the 24th minute that the ladies took the lead through Debbie McWhinnie. Sarah Robertson drove to by line and cut ball back for McWhinnie to lunge and play the ball past the keeper.
The goal seemed to settle the ladies and they enjoyed more possession and efforts at goal but never really tested the keeper. It was then the visitors equalised on 40th minute from a set play. Inverness took free kick on edge of box and it was converted by the head of the Inverness player.
Second half didn’t get much better for the ladies as they were still struggling to make an impact in the final third with crosses and final passes proving to be very slack.
It wasn’t until last the 15 minutes that the ladies showed some urgency to go and find the winning goal but a combination of missed chances and good goalkeeping kept the teams level at the final whistle.
