Hibs Girls 96 v Spartans u15 - match report
HIBS GIRLS UNDER 15 COLTS V SPARTANS GIRLS UNDER 15 - REDFORD BARRACKS
Hibs Girls kicked off with a strong wind behind them on a cold spring morning. They set up a series of promising attacks during the first few minutes and their pressure paid off in the 10th minute when Clare Williamson scored with a close in shot.
In Hibs next attack, a good corner kick by Rebecca McArthur brought out a fine save by the Spartans keeper. Then Lia Tweedie went on a long run from the half-way line and was only foiled by another good save. Sarah Laverty soon came near with a close in shot.
Clare Williamson was to demonstrate her skill and power during the next few minutes with no less than 4 surging runs which narrowly failed to end in scoring shots. However in 25 minutes a great cross by Lia Tweedie was slotted home by the lively Georgia Morran to put Hibs 2 goals up.
Lia Tweedie made another skilful run and cross from the right, resulting in Rebecca McArthur scoring a good 3rd goal for Hibs. The first half ended with high shots by Clare Williamson and Lia Tweedie which both came close.

When play resumed, the Spartans keeper juggled the ball well to make a fine save as Hibs Girls now faced the strong breeze. In 37 minutes Louise Kerr shot just past the post. Two minutes later Clare Williamson drove forward on the right in typical fashion, ending with a scoring shot to make the score 4-0.
The hard-worked Spartans Keeper saved a good shot from Sarah Laverty in 55 minutes and another good shot by Clare Williamson a few minutes later. Before the end, a good passing move ended with goal by Sarah Laverty and Shannon Riley made the final total 6 in the last minute. This was a splendid all-round team performance by the Hibs Girls against bigger but much less skilful opponents who nevertheless tried their best until the end.
Throughout the match, Rebecca McArthur put over a large number of accurate corner kicks and crosses. However there were no failures in the Hibs team and every one of them contributed positively to an excellent victory.
