Hibernian Ladies were formed in 1999 by Paul and Iain Johnston and under their guidance they have become one of the strongest teams in Scottish Women Football.
In a short space of time they have won all domestic honours in Scotland and are on course to claim more. To date they have won the Scottish Cup FOUR times, League Cup TWICE and the Scottish Women's Premier League THREE times.
As a squad Hibs Ladies undoubtedly have one of the strongest teams in Scotland, boasting 10 current and former internationalists, this means that competition within the squad is fierce, but the spirit that Hibs Ladies have developed has been key to any success they have achieved.
In the 2006/2007 Hibernian broke new records in Scotland, going an entire league season without dropping a single point. As well as this they lifted the Scottish Cup in emphatic style with a convincing 5-1 victory over nearest rivals Glasgow City. The Ladies have represented Scotland in the Women's UEFA Cup 3 times and in 2007 narrowly missed out on qualifying to the next stage of the competition. From 2003 when Hibs Ladies first won major trophies until season 2007-2008, Hibs have been a dominant force in Scottish Womens Football.
A new management team were put in place for the 2009 mini season in the form of Hibernian Club Coach Jimmy Burns, Kenny Watson and Dan Pawlowski. This saw great strides take place on the pitch after a difficult start to the season. A strong nucleus to the senior squad was formed and the integration of the 17s girls team was put in place with the help of 17s Coach Brian Ross. A very comendable 4th place finish in the league was secured as well as a cup final appearance.
2010 will see the Scottish Womens Premier League move to Summer football and exciting times are predicted for the club. Academy Coach Willie Kirk has now been put in place as Ladies 'A' Head Coach. He has put in place a very strong coaching team and added further quality on the pitch and with this in mind, the ladies are looking to regain their previous form and once more challenge for honours.
